Xtreme.ie

Yesterday we went to Xtreme in Dublin. When we arrived we were put into different groups.
Our group first had to go and put on the safety harnesses and helmets. First we went to climb a wall.
Next we went up stairs to the middle course. We had to be hooked in to some ropes and walk around through all the obstacles. I didn't do it because I am scared of heights. When you were looking up from the ground at the obstacles it looked fun and it also looked easy, but when we got upstairs it looked really scary. After that we went up some more stairs and there was a zip line, but our group didn't get to go on it. Instead we got to go were we were hooked into a rope and we had to jump and we would be falling straight down but before you landed the rope slowed you down so you could land safely. I also didn't go on it because it looked terrifying.

We had to take all of our safety harness off and we went to do some archery. Afterwards we all went to liffey valley then back to school.

Retreat

Maynooth College

Yesterday we had our retreat. We went to Maynooth College. When we arrived we had to all sit in a circle. All the three teachers introduced themselves first.

The first exercise that we did was, we had to link our arms together while sitting in a circle. There were four girls in the middle of the circle and they had to go around and pull people out of the circle and we had to hold on as long as we could. If you got pulled out you had to get up and do the same thing. We had to do this until only two people were left linking which meant that they were the strongest link.

We played another game which was: you were in a life boat and had to get into groups of the number that was called out and if your group had too many people or not enough it meant your boat sank and you were out of the game.

Afterwards we had a 10 minute break. When we got back inside we had to get into groups of 10. Each group had to pick one card and on each card it said a topic that the group had to discuss about. My groups topic was ' a) do you think that 16/17 year old's should be able to do what they want? b) If you were a parent of a 16/17 year old would you allow them to do what they want '  Later we got to discuss these topics with the whole Ty group. We had our lunch and after lunch when we came back in, we finished discussing all the topics. Then we had a few minutes to reflect on ourselves and the day was over.

Overall I really enjoyed myself at this retreat.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop

All Ty's are doing Hip Hop during our PE classes. We are learning a choreography for our Ty night. I find that Hip Hop is really fun. Some of the dance moves were a bit hard to do but after practicing a couple of times it gets easier. We have to practice our dance moves at home so we would get better and also so we wouldn't forget the choreography.
